Slick roadways lead to crash in Farmingville

Suffolk police say a woman was hospitalized after her car skidded across the grassy median on North Ocean Avenue and into oncoming traffic Saturday.

According to authorities, the unidentified woman was driving near Granny Road when her Hyundai hydroplaned due to the rain and sleet on the roadway. After skidding across the grassy median and into oncoming northbound traffic, the woman's car was struck by a Chevrolet, police say.

The woman was taken to Stony Brook Hospital and is listed in critical condition. The driver of the Chevrolet was not injured.
