LI whiz kid wins Siemens Competition

An East Setauket high school whiz kid took home a $100,000 scholarship at the SiemensCompetition in Math, Science and Technology.

Ruoyi Jiang, a student at Ward Melville High School, won top honors. His project examined resistance tochemotherapy drugs.

"I sort of am in a state of shock right now," said Jiang, 17, after winning. "I didn't think I'd get past the regionals, to be honest . . . I think we're all winners at this competition."
