Joanna Bird's family demands details of probe

Eight months after Nassau police launched an internal probe of its handling of the Joanna Bird case, her relatives say they still don?t have any answers.

The 24-year-old New Cassel mom was allegedly stabbed to death by her ex-boyfriend in March. Bird?s family says Leonardo Valdez-Cruz harassed her prior to her death, violating an order of protection. He was only arrested after he allegedly killed her.

Nassau police tell News 12 their probe is complete but administrative hearings for the officers are the next step. Police say they can share the results when the hearings are done but probably won?t divulge names of any officers disciplined.
