Alleged confession at center of Lucero hearing

A judge is deciding whether an alleged confession by one of the teens accused of killing Marcelo Lucero in Patchogue last year is admissible in court.

During Wednesday?s pre-trial hearing for Jeffrey Conroy, police revealed statements the teen allegedly made to officers after the stabbing.

According to police, Conroy said ?[Lucero] was about four or five feet from me. I continued to run towards him and stabbed him once in either his shoulder or chest.?

Conroy?s attorney would not comment to News 12 about the alleged confession.

The judge is set to make a decision Thursday. Conroy is charged with murder and manslaughter as a hate crime.
