Police: Mom left kids in car while she shopped

A Central Islip mom is accused of leaving her children alone in the car in frigid temperatures while she shopped Wednesday.

Police say 28-year-old Tanasia Perry went shopping at the Broadway Mall in Hicksville just before 10 p.m. and left her 11-year-old son and 14-month-old daughter in the car with no heat. It was 28 degrees outside.

A Good Samaritan notified authorities, police say. Perry was arrested when she walked out of the mall. Police say she was shopping for at least 25 minutes.

Perry pleaded not guilty to child endangerment charges. A yearlong order of protection was issued against her.
