Plowing problems leave LIers snowed in
Many Long Islanders were still snowed in long after the flakes from Blizzard ?09 stopped falling, stranded because snowplows did not get to their streets.
The weekend?s record-setting snowfall was still causing problems Monday. Ferrick Avenue in Medford saw one snowplow come through Sunday morning and then not again until 4 p.m. Monday. Residents say they started clearing the road by hand in between.
In Deer Park, a plow didn?t come down Weise Place until Monday night. Resident William Diaz says he understands his street wasn?t a priority because it?s a dead end but complains he and neighbors were stranded for 36 hours.
Snowy train station parking lots also posed a problem for commuters and highway departments.
