Cold may be to blame for homeless man's death

Police say the death of a homeless man in New Cassel over the weekend may be cold-related.

A 56-year-old homeless man was found dead Monday morning in a field next to an abandoned school. Police say the man had been living in the field for years. ?Unfortunately he chose to live this free-wheeling lifestyle and he didn't really want to take people?s help,? Nassau County Police Lt. Raymond Cote says. ?This thing could have been avoided if he determined to take the help of family and friends.?

The man?s brother tells News 12 Long Island he went to the field and begged his brother to come home with him, but he refused.
