Plows finally relieve some LI residents

Brookhaven?s highway supervisor is defending his plow crews? handling of Blizzard ?09 even as residents complained they still weren?t plowed out 36 hours after the snow stopped falling.

The town was inundated with phone calls from residents Monday, many saying they were still snowed-in.

Highway Supervisor Jon Rouse tells News 12 his department did its best and reminds residents it was the biggest snowstorm in Brookhaven?s history. He says 550 workers worked around the clock trying to clear 2,500 miles of town roads.

Residents of Ferrick Road in Patchogue were stuck on their street until Tuesday when the plow finally came. Patchogue got more than 27 inches of snow.
