In-flight rules eased after 2-day crackdown

(AP) - Airline officials say in-flight security ruleshave been eased after a two-day clampdown.

At the captain's discretion, passengers can once again haveblankets and other items on their laps or move about the cabinduring the tail end of flight, two industry officials briefed onthe situation said Monday.

Restrictions were put into place following a bombing attempt onan international flight that landed Friday in Detroit.

The officials spoke on condition of anonymity because federalsafety officials had not publicly announced the changes.
