Cops make 1st LI arrests under Leandra's Law
This weekend, a Hampton Bays dad became the first Long Island resident charged under a new drunken driving law.
Leandra's Law is a new law that makes it a felony to drive drunk with a child in the car. It went into effect Dec. 18.
Eighteen-year-old Mario Rojano was arrested for allegedly driving drunk Saturday in Southampton with his 3-year-old son in the car.
A second Leandra?s Law arrest was made Sunday. Barton Jenks, of West Islip, was arrested on the Southern State Parkway in Bethpage. Police say he had his 10-year-old son with him in the car.
