Winds set off chain-reaction fire in N. Babylon
Strong winds set off a chain of events Tuesday that destroyed a North Babylon man?s truck and left neighbors angry with LIPA.
The windy conditions caused a tree to knock down power lines which then set a truck ablaze. James Davis says he waited more than two hours for a LIPA crew to cut power to the lines and his truck was destroyed.
Davis says the LIPA crew was two blocks away during the truck fire.
LIPA released a statement saying crews must make sure their work area is secure before moving onto another one. LIPA says the closest crew was dispatched to the scene as soon as they did that.
