Inwood shops damaged by 'suspicious' fire

Investigators are calling the fire that erupted at an Inwood market Wednesday suspicious.

The fire started at around 3 a.m. inside the Bayview Mini Market on Bayview Avenue and then spread to Willies Furniture Restorations next door. Officials say it started after someone apparently broke into the mini market through the back door.

One neighbor tells News 12 Long Island that he wasn?t surprised when he woke up and saw where the flames were coming from. He says police are frequently called to the store, but wouldn?t elaborate on what kind of incidents took place.

The mini market?s owner, Musleh Elqeifi, says, ?Maybe [I?ve got] enemies, but I don't know about it.?
