LI group helps needy survive the chill

Outreach group the Lighthouse Mission has altered its typical mission in order to help the Island's less fortunate survive the bitter cold this winter.

The group is known for feeding the needy, but is now also distributing jackets, gloves and other items to homeless and low income families in dire need.

The Lighthouse Mission's volunteers say the number of those who need help is growing.

"I've seen it from being 40 people a week to 60, 70, 80 people," says Pastor Jennifer Jackson.
