A historic World War II plane that flew in the Normandy invasion 70 years ago made a trip over the Long Island Sound today.
Over 30 people boarded the C-47 plane out of Republic Airport for the flight.
Many present were with family members who have served and were hoping to understand what it felt like to be a paratrooper.
Each participant on the plane was assigned a real name and number of a D-Day trooper.
The C-47 is now on display at the American Airpower Museum in Farmingdale.
