Suffolk County SPCA rescues dog covered in apparent stab wounds in Babylon
A dog rescued by the Suffolk County SPCA on Saturday was covered in dozens of apparent stab wounds and slashes.
The 3-year-old Maltipoo dog was found in an unoccupied Babylon home thanks to a tip.
Chris Elton, the Director of the Babylon Animal Shelter, says it's the worst case of animal abuse he has ever seen.
According to Elton, the dog is covered in a total of 45 wounds, most of which are shallow stab wounds from her head to her back. Elton says 38 of the wounds appear to have been done with some type of knife.
Workers have named the dog Miracle, and they confirm that she is on her way to recovery.
Officials encourage anyone with information to call the SPCA.
