Long Island beaches ready for holiday weekend
Long Island's beaches are a popular spot for the unofficial start to summer and parks officials say they're looking forward to a successful season.
The Bethpage Air Show at Jones Beach, featuring the U.S. Navy Blue Angels, is back this year. The air show was canceled last year due to military budget cuts, but organizers say they're ready for this weekend.
At Long Beach, the city is bringing back a food truck market to the boardwalk after it opened to a great reception last year. Called Shoregasboard, the market will feature local vendors and restaurants.
"Last year, it was about coming back," says Fran Adelson, the vice president of the Long Beach City Council. "This year is about we're here."
