Mangano sworn in as Nassau County executive

Ed Mangano was sworn in as the eighth Nassau County executive Friday afternoon.

The ceremony took place at Bethpage High School, Mangano's alma mater.

Mangano, a Republican, unseated incumbent Tom Suozzi after a tight race. When all votes were counted, Mangano won by just 377 votes.

Before his inauguration speech, Mangano made good on one of his major campaign promises -- he signed a bill to repeal the home energy tax. In his speech, Mangano maintained that he plans to help dig the county out of debt.
