Snowstorm takes Long Islanders by surprise

Families throughout Suffolk County spent Saturday shoveling snow that unexpectedly blanketed the region.

"It was a lot of work, and we still have a lot to go yet," says Thomas Tersigni, a maintenance worker at St. Joseph's Village Senior Complex. "Let's hope we don't get any more tomorrow."

The snow created icy driving conditions throughout Long Island that resulted in numerous accidents, including several at the intersection of Adirondack Drive and Oneida Avenue in Selden.
