Obama on air security: We have to do better

(AP) - President Barack Obama says the foiledChristmas Day airliner attack exposed "a potentially disastrous"security failure in which the U.S. intelligence community hadenough information to connect the dots ahead of time but didn't.

The president spoke after a White House meeting Tuesday with thehigh-ranking government officials charged with carrying out tworeviews.

Obama told reporters the security lapse didn't have to do withthe collection of information but with the failure to integrate andanalyze what was there. He said, "We have to do better and we willdo better and we have to do it quickly."
