Farmingdale considered for sex offender trailer

Suffolk?s Department of Social Services says it?s considering housing homeless sex offenders at a location in Farmingdale, much to the opposition of many in the community.

One of the sites being considered is an industrial area on Gaza Boulevard. However, the Adventureland theme park, an indoor fun center and two movie theaters are all within a mile.

DSS Commissioner Gregory Blass says the surrounding community would be protected because the sex offenders will be watched and escorted by guards.

The county says it is still open to suggestions but will make a decision in about a week.
