Experts: Homeless living in tent cities across LI

According to advocates, the homeless are living in tent cities all over Long Island including a wooded area in Huntington Station that serves as home to nearly two dozen.

The group of men living in the makeshift camp is comprised of many out-of-work day laborers. They live in about 10 tents dotted around the area. One of the residents, Pablo Cervantes, says he and the others have gone as long as four days without food.

Family Service League officials say they also visit such sites across Suffolk every day and try to convince the people living there to go to shelters, especially during the winter.
