LI retirees still awaiting missing checks

Hundreds of Long Island retirees were notified Friday that their lost pension checks were found, but they shouldn't run to the mailbox just yet.

Linda Meyer, a retired school bus driver from East Northport, has been looking for her missing check for eight days. She and other retirees were assured they will receive their checks shortly, but the postal service doesn't know exactly where they are.

According to the postal service, the checks were incorrectly placed in the regular mail instead of being pre-sorted first class.

Many of the missing checks are expected to arrive by Saturday, but Meyer says the incident made her switch to direct deposit.
