Small plane crashes off Sayville coast

A small plane with two people on board crashed in the waters off Sayville Saturday.

Fire officials say the victims were pulled out of the frigid water by divers and taken to Brookhaven Memorial Hospital to be treated for minor injuries, including hypothermia.

Rescue crews say the plane crash could have been much worse.

"We got lucky today, everybody got lucky," says Joseph Williams, of the Suffolk Fire and Emergency Services.

Officials say the Federal Aviation Administration will investigate the cause of the crash.
