Suffolk police: Officer shoots robbery suspect

Authorities say a man suspected of robbing a Taco Bell was shot by a police officer early Monday morning in Huntington.

Investigators say three masked men forced their way into the New York Avenue restaurant and robbed the manager of $300. The suspects then fled, but their car was stopped by police in Dix Hills. Suffolk police say one of their officers opened fire after he stopped the car on East Jericho Turnpike in Huntington at around 4:20 a.m.

The suspect was shot in the abdomen and is in stable condition at Huntington Hospital.

Cops say the man's two accomplices are also in custody.
