Child found in stolen car in Massapequa

(AP) - A 5-year-old girl has been found in the backseat of a stolen car abandoned on Long Island.

Nassau County police say two male suspects were seen running from the stolen vehicle in Massapequa Monday afternoon, leaving the child behind.

A police spokesman did not immediately know why the girl was in the car. She's currently being cared for by the police.

Investigators did not immediately have details on where the car was stolen or why the men abandoned the vehicle and the child. They are searching for the suspects.
