1 teen killed, 2 injured in Hauppauge crash

One teenager was killed and two others were injured when their car slammed into a tree Monday night in Hauppauge.

Police say the crash occurred at around 9:30 p.m. on Sandra Drive. The three teens were returning home from a church youth group meeting.

Authorities say the driver, 18-year-old Jonathan Buckley, of Hauppauge, lost control of his vehicle and hit a tree in front of a home.

Sixteen-year-old Michael Cisternas, of Hauppauge, was seriously injured and died hours later at the hospital.

Buckley and his 16-year-old sister, Lynn, who was also in the car, were both treated and released from the hospital.
