Lawrence strip club sign draws eyes and ire

More than 100 Lawrence residents have launched a campaign to get rid of a racy billboard they say is distracting and offensive.

The billboard for Platinum Gentleman?s Club portraying a scantily clad woman has graced Rockaway Boulevard for more than a year.

Though the owner of the shop next door to the club says the establishment has been shut down, it is up to a Nassau judge to decide if the sign should come down.

Attorney Lenore Davis says she has collected the signatures of 135 people who want the billboard taken down. She says she hopes to have the case back before a judge by the end of January.
