Suffolk PD response to subpoenas causes stir

A response from Suffolk Police Commissioner Richard Dorner to a subpoena for department information is generating heat with county lawmakers.

Legislator Jack Eddington, head of the public safety committee, issued the subpoena for information on staff moves and policy changes. Eddington says the 500-page response contains no information on how the changes were reached, just describes what they are.

County Executive Steve Levy meanwhile wants an investigation into how the media obtained the confidential document.

The Legislature is now considering subpoenaing individual police officials.
