Limited flights keeping LI doctors from Haiti

Limits imposed on flights into Haiti have made it difficult for a team of Long Island doctors to donate their skills to the relief effort.

The State Department has blocked many from traveling due to the growing log jam of aid and flights into Haiti.

"We can't get clearance to get into Port-au-Prince, Haiti," says Dr. Evelyn Tuero-Lianas, of Huntington.

Tuero-Lianas and a 15-member medical team are trying to find a way around the red tape. A private institution has donated a corporate jet to fly the group to the Dominican Republic. From there, the group hopes to find transportation into Haiti. They hope to arrive by Sunday.
