2 NY men charged in house fire tied to murders
(AP) - Two Long Island men have been chargedin connection to a house fire in which three people were found shotto death.
Thomas Singletary, of Central Islip, pleaded not guilty to arsonon Monday and was ordered held on $1 million cash bail. A call tohis attorney, Douglas O'Connor, was not answered.
A Suffolk County District Attorney spokesman says his cohort,33-year-old Hasan Vaughan, also of Central Islip, faces arraignmentFeb. 4 on criminal charges in a sealed indictment. Information onhis attorney was not immediately available.
The bodies of 31-year-old Mykier Daniels, her 28-year-oldsister, Katrice Daniels, and 19-year-old Louis Calixto Jr. werefound Aug. 11, 2009 in the house fire in Central Islip.
Investigators say the three were murdered and the fire was setto cover the killings.
Police say Mykier Daniels' two children escaped unharmed.
