Suffolk DA busts suspected Ketamine ring
The Suffolk County District Attorney's Office announced the arrest of seven people Tuesday for buying and selling the drug Ketamine.
Ketamine, an animal tranquilizer, is used as a club drug.
Authorities say they seized loaded guns, a kilo of Ketamine and almost $400,000 in cash. The 18-month investigation was a joint effort by the Suffolk DA, DEA and police.
Two were charged under a new drug trafficking statute, which could land them in prison for the rest of their lives.
Prosecutors say they those involved bought the drugs from Pakistan and China, repackaged and sold it in Suffolk, raking in about $1 million a month.
