Bellport district: Bus driver taped kid's mouth

A bus driver at a Bellport intermediate school was fired this week for allegedly duct taping a student?s mouth shut.

Superintendent Dr. Raymond Walsh says the driver for Frank P. Long Intermediate School pulled over when students were making too much noise and put the tape on a child?s mouth.

The alleged incident happened on the ride home Monday. Walsh says the driver kept the tape on for 10 minutes in between stops.

The school district and police say they?re investigating. Social workers and guidance counselors are on hand at the school.
