Report of wild beagle attack raises eyebrows

East End residents are on the lookout following a weekend news report about a pack of wild beagles allegedly attacking a woman in Orient Point.

The woman claims she was walking her own dogs when a pack of dogs chased them back into the house.

Animal experts say there are in fact wild beagles roaming around the East End. Pam Green, of the Kent Animal Shelter in Calverton, says these dogs are often abandoned by hunters and left to fend for themselves.

Town of Brookhaven officials say they haven?t seen any reports of beagles attacking residents other than the newspaper account.
