1 dead, 15 hurt in Northampton bus crash

Police say a man was killed when hiscar collided with a bus on eastern Long Island.

The crash Tuesday morning involved a Suffolk County Transit bus carrying 14 passengers. The passengers and the bus driver weretaken to hospitals; police say all their injuries were consideredminor. The driver of the other vehicle was killed; his identity wasnot immediately revealed.

The crash happened around 7:40 a.m., at the intersection ofCounty Roads 51 and 63 near Northampton. Southampton Town Policesay it appears the driver of a compact car drove through a stopsign and was hit by the bus.

The rural area of Long Island is about 75 miles east ofManhattan.
