Man falls through gap at Syosset train station

An elderly man became pinned under a Long Island Rail Road train for several minutes Tuesday when he fell through the gap at the Syosset train station.

MTA officials say a man in his 70s stepped off the train and fell through the gap between the train and the platform. The man was conscious but had a laceration on his head and complained of back pain, authorities say.

This incident is just the latest to occur at the Syosset train station. The MTA has installed cameras and boards and shifted the platform in places to try to close the gap. However, the problem remains.

The MTA says it will review the incident.
