Oil delivered to wrong house in Bethpage

Officials are trying to find the truck driver responsible for mistakenly pumping oil into a Bethpage home Wednesday morning.

According to Charles Garner, he switched to natural gas last year, but woke up to find that about 30 gallons of oil had been pumped into his Berkshire Road home around 7 a.m. Garner says the boiler room looked as if it had been flooded from all the fuel.

Nassau County Fire Marshals and a hazmat team responded to the house and went door to door asking neighbors if they saw anything. Officials say they haven't found a delivery ticket for the oil.

The driver could face a fine of up to $100,000 for the improper use of fuel oil.
