Police ID woman, baby found dead in woods

Police have identified a young woman and her toddler son whose bodies were found shot to death in a wooded lot in Central Islip.

A passerby found the bodies of 19-year-old Vanessa Argueta and her 14-month-old son Diego, of Hempstead, while walking to work Friday.

"Whoever killed them is going to hell," says Vanessa Argueta's 11-year-old brother, Joshua Argueta.

The woman's older brother, Oscar Argueta, says he can't understand why anyone would end the lives of his sister and nephew in such a merciless manner.

Anyone with information about the murders is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220 TIPS.
