Paterson meets with lawmakers over future

(AP) - New York Gov. David Paterson has metprivately with key Democratic leaders about his re-election planseven as questions continue to swirl around the state capitol abouta variety of unproven accusations involving the Democraticgovernor's personal conduct.

Paterson campaign spokesman Richard Fife says the weekend callshad nothing to do with the accusations, but were "routinere-election campaign calls." A Democrat close to the situation,though, says the meetings included discussions about whetherPaterson would resign or announce he will not run.

The Democrat spoke on condition of anonymity because of thesensitivity of the issue.
