Dad of accused ex-firefighter testifies at trial
The father of a volunteer firefighter accused of intentionally setting a fatal fire testified at his trial Monday.
Rev. Richard Lacey told the jury that his son, 19-year-old Caleb Lacey, didn't have anything to do with the deadly fire that killed a mother and three of her children. Edit Vanegas, whose wife was killed in the fire, says Richard Lacey lied on the stand.
According to prosecutors, Caleb Lacey doused the Vanegas' stairwell with gas, then lit a match and waited for the call to come in at his firehouse, so he could help extinguish the fire and be hailed a hero.
