2 LI teachers to bring supplies to Haiti
Two Riverhead Charter School teachers are heading to Haiti Tuesday to deliver much-needed supplies and help staff a medical clinic.
Jaclyn Walsh and Tom Graf are part of a team of 17 people bringing tents, food, clothing and medical supplies to Leogane, a suburb of Port-au-Prince. The two educators' fifth- and sixth-grade classes have been learning about Haiti before and after the earthquake struck.
Students at Riverhead Charter School drew pictures, which the teachers will also bring to Haitian children.
"I'm hoping not only to inspire my students, but to inspire other people to help those in need," Walsh says.
