Woman drives wrong way on Sunrise Hwy.

Police say a 21-year-old woman drove the wrong way down Sunrise Highway for nearly six miles Wednesday.

The woman drove eastbound onto the westbound lanes of Sunrise Highway near Route 109 and continued as far as Fifth Avenue in Bay Shore. Brian Falabella, who was driving on Sunrise at the time of the incident, says cars were swerving out of the way to avoid the wrong-way driver.

There were no injuries and police say alcohol did not play a role. The driver was not charged.
