Broken rail on LIRR main line delays commute

Long Island Rail Road passengers dealt with heavy service delays after a broken rail was reported on the main line Thursday.

LIRR stated that delays up of to 40 minutes in both directions were expected for the main line between Floral Park and Mineola. The delays also affected the Port Jefferson, Oyster Bay, Ronkonkoma, and Hempstead lines.

Trains originating from Huntington also saw some delays as a result of the broken rail.
