Sex assault case dropped against lacrosse players

(AP) - Prosecutors have dropped their caseagainst three Sacred Heart University lacrosse players accused ofconspiring to sexually assault a woman in a Connecticut dorm room. A judge dismissed charges Wednesday against 18-year-old NicholasTravers of Smithtown, N.Y. Prosecutors say they also won't pursuecharges against 18-year-old Zachari Triner, 18, of Mansfield,Mass., and 19-year-old Timothy Sanders of Ashburn, Va. Sanders' attorney Wayne Keeney says an investigation showed thatTravers was not in the room at the time and that the other twodidn't commit a crime. All three were charged in November with conspiracy to commitfirst-degree sexual assault. Sanders also was charged withfirst-degree unlawful restraint.
