Suffolk cop hurt in Melville crash

A Suffolk police officer is recovering after his patrol car crashed overnight in Melville.

Authorities say the cruiser slammed into the back of another vehicle on Route 110 shortly after midnight.

The unidentified officer, who was behind the wheel of the patrol car, was treated for injuries and is expected to be fine. His K-9 dog that was inside the car was not hurt.
