Judge tosses 'Black Sunday' convictions

A judge Tuesday overturned the convictions against the building company and landlord Cesar Rios in the ?Black Sunday? fatal fire trial.

Rios was convicted in 2009 of criminally negligent homicide and reckless endangerment. A jury found him guilty after two firefighters, Curtis Meyran, of Malvern, and John Bellew, were forced to jump to their deaths when they became trapped in an apartment fire.

Bronx Supreme Court Judge Margaret Clancy said Rios did not knowingly endanger anyone.

Facebook messages sent by a juror to a firefighter who survived the fire had no bearing in her decision, she said.
