Health care summit puts Obama, GOP toe-to-toe

President Barack Obama and congressional lawmakers held a much-hyped summit on health care reform Thursday in hopes of resuscitating the debate.

About 40 senators, representatives and administration officials took part in the televised daylong summit with Obama serving as moderator.

Many Long Islanders, meanwhile, say health reform is necessary. However, the population remains as divided on the details as Washington.

Eileen Colahan, of Farmingdale, says she?s out of work and paying too much out of pocket for her medication. Others who attended the Choice Career Fair in Melville say health care premiums are too high and something must be done.
