JFK runway closure causing noise in Floral Park
With the closure of the main runway at John F. Kennedy International airport Monday, some Floral Park residents say their neighborhood will be unbearably noisy.
William and Ann Corbett say they have recently dealt with an increase in loud flyovers because planes fly closer to their home when the weather is bad. But now that the main runway will be closed for months, the couple worries the noise won't stop.
Port Authority says it is undertaking a $376 million renovation to widen the runway and replace the asphalt with concrete. The repairs will take about four months.
