LI woman thanks cops for life-saving ride

A woman from Atlantic Beach thanked two Nassau County police officers Tuesday for helping her get to the hospital for a liver transplant at the height of the latest snowstorm.

On Friday, Feb. 26, officers Robert Prince and Jacek Trybala jumped into a four-wheel drive police vehicle and sped Maryann Steinbock to the city line. There, the officers transferred Steinbock into the care of NYPD cops, who continued her ride to Montefiore Medical Center.

Doctors had warned Steinbock that she only had until 10:30 a.m. to use the liver transplant match she had waited 18 months for.

The officers got her to the hospital at 10:27 a.m.

For an extended interview with Steinbock, go to channel 612 on your iO digital cable box and select iO Extra.
