Analyst: Lazio may face unexpected opponent

Republican Rick Lazio visited Brookhaven Saturday to endorse Dan Panico for town councilman and speak about the upcoming gubernatorial election.

With scandals swirling around Gov. David Paterson, Lazio's Democratic opponent is expected to be Attorney General Andrew Cuomo. However, Lazio may also face off against Suffolk County Executive Steve Levy in the Republican primary.

Steve Levy's spokesperson says the county executive will welcome the nomination of any party, including the GOP.
