Fire on tracks causes LIRR suspension

Some Long Island Railroad passengers were left outside for more than two and a half hours Saturday after a brush fire broke out on the tracks.

A spokesperson for the LIRR says service east of Deer Park on the Ronkonkoma line will be suspended overnight while officials investigate the cause of the fire.

Passengers say they were told buses would take them to their destinations promptly, but after firefighters put out the flames, they waited for hours.
